Breaking Cebu News! DOH Central Visayas reported 191 new cases COVID-19 Cebu, Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu
The Department of Health Central Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH CVCHD) through the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center Sub-National Laboratory (VSMMC SNL) has released as of 5:00pm of 5 May 2020, six hundred twelve (612) test results. There is a total of one hundred ninety-three (193) positive results, two (2) of which are repeat tests of previously confirmed cases. This brings the total confirmed cases in the region to one thousand four hundred sixty (1,460). The region had no additional deaths on 5 May 2020; total number of deaths from those infected with COVID-19 remains at seventeen (17).
*The DOH CVHCHD has been receiving queries and clarifications on the discrepancies of numbers between the local chief executives and the national COVID-19 Tracker. The increasing capacity of our SNL and the large coverage of our contact tracing teams have resulted in large numbers of results both for positive and negative cases. For these reasons, the official numbers of the DOH CVCHD will be delayed by one day to give time for data validation and verification. However, the local government units will be given real time data that they can release to the public and our media partners. We ask for the public’s patience as we try reducing if not eliminating erroneous data that may result from the pressure to release regional data on the same day as they are released by the VSMMC SNL. The one-day delay on the release of the DOH CVHCD numbers will also give time for the official DOH COVID-19 Tracker to be updated to reflect the regional numbers.
