UPDATE ON THE COVID19 CASES IN CEBU CITY JAIL
As of April 23, 2020, there are already 127 COVID19 cases in the Cebu City Jail, involving 114 inmates and 13 BJMP Personnel.
All the COVID19 positive inmates have been separated and are currently housed in the new building which now serves as their isolation facility. The COVID19 positive BJMP personnel are also in a separate isolation facility.
The City Health Department has already collected 345 samples from the City Jail, some results are still pending. And while we wait for the other results, our CHD will still continue testing in the City Jail.
The CHD in cooperation with the City Jail’s medical personnel are continuously monitoring the status of all COVID19 patients. Most of these patients are asymptomatic and those with symptoms are being given medication and treatment.
Yesterday, the City Government has given 500 N95 masks, 2500 surgical face masks, 300 face shields, alcohol, coffee and biscuits to the personnel and inmates of City Jail. Today, we will give 50 sacks of 50 kilos of rice.
Visitation privileges and “dunol” in City Jail are temporarily suspended due to security and safety concerns.
