Breaking Cebu News! 7 new cases of COVID-19 in Cebu City force to do more tests
Statement of Mayor Edgardo Labella
Trias, I received a report from Dr. Daisy Villa, our chief of the City Health Department, that five more individuals from Sitio Zapatera, Barangay Luz, and another one from A. Lopez, Barangay Labangon, were found to be positive of the novel coronavirus, which causes COVID-19.
This means that we have six new COVID-19 cases today. The five Luz residents were tested at the same time as the two Luz residents earlier confirmed to have heen infected by the virus. They were among the hatch of 17 people tested last week.
The five Luz residents were tested at the same time as the two Luz residents earlier confirmed to have been infected by the virus. They were among the batch of 17 people tested last week.
The six new cases are all asymptomatic.
With this, I already instructed Yvonne Feliciano, the hospital administrator of the Cebu
City Medical Center, to facilitate the transfer of the six individuals to the hospital's isolation facility. The two previously confirmed cases will also be transferred to the isolation facility.
The contact tracing of our COVID-19 patients continue. In relation to that, I already directed Dr. Villa to conduct a massive testing using the 18,000 test kits we bought for the department. Yesterday, 100 individuals were tested. Results are not yet available.
Sitio Zapatera, Barangay Luz will continue to be in total lockdown. I also instructed Police Colonel Josefino Ligan, the acting city director of the Cebu City Police Office, to implement a total lockdown in Sitio A. Lopez, Barangay Labangon.
While the City Government and all the other government agencies continue to work to prevent the spread of COVID-19,1 am appealing to the city residents to follow all the COVID-19 Protocols we have set out.
I appeal to the city residents to stay at home if they don’t have any important concerns outside the house.
About all, we should continue to pray for everyone’s safety.
