Typically, the virus is transmitted through droplets during coughing or sneezing. Most droplets are smaller than 100 microns (0.1 mm) in diameter. Medical masks protect against large drops. N95 type respirators protect against 95% droplets. If worn correctly, this mask will protect against any drop of more than 0.3 microns in size (so, well below 100 microns).
DOH recalls that the mask may limit the spread of respiratory diseases. But that is not enough. You should wash your hands frequently and do not touch your face, avoid crowded places, even if you are in a mask, and try to be at least one meter away from another person.
Do not remove the mask, even if there are no people nearby. Do not touch the mask with your hands. The hardest thing is not to touch your face with your hands. We do not notice this, but on average, a person touches his / her face 23 times an hour.
It is best to be outdoors. Indoors, the virus spreads faster. Masks often adhere to the face badly - especially on the sides.
