In Yunnan, a man who was found to have a hantavirus died on a bus while traveling to Shandong, where he worked.
A person can become infected with hantavirus by contact with rodents or their urine, saliva or feces. A person becomes infected by aerosol inhalation of dust containing particles of saliva and urine.
You should not be afraid of a new epidemic, since the hantavirus is not transmitted from person to person.
Symptoms of Hantavirus
The disease begins with fever, chills, muscle pain or gastrointestinal symptoms, but can quickly progress to a life-threatening disease.
Symptoms of hantavirus pulmonary syndrome usually appear in 2-4 weeks, but can appear both in a week and 6 weeks after exposure to the virus.
