According to the Department of Civil Defense, 793 people died of a COVID-19 in Italy in one day, 546 of which were in Lombardy. The total number of deaths reached 4825, and those who recovered - 6072.
In recent days, a country with quarantine throughout its territory has been breaking one mortality record after another. Data for March 21 are currently considered the most record. The average age of the deceased in Italy is 78.5 years.
No one can predict how the situation will develop further. According to some virologists, the high mortality rate in Lombardy is due to the fact that the virus began to mutate in this region.
