Situation Corona Virus update | 15 new cases COVID-19 and first in Cebu
DOH COVID-19 CASE BULLETIN 18 March 2020
• As of 12NN today, the Department of Health reports 15 new cases (PH188-PH202) of COVID-19.
Total number of cases in the country is now at 202.
Yesterday, DOH reported the death of 2 positive cases:
• PH126-13th PH death
o 76-year old Filipino male from Rizal
o Cause of Death: Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) and severe pneumonia, secondary to COVID-19 o Had Type 2 Diabetes and Hypertensive Cardiovascular Disease o Confirmed positive for COVID-19 on March 15
• PH129-14th PH death
o 67-year old Filipino male from Quezon City
o Cause of Death: ARDS secondary to COVID-19, community-acquired pneumonia o Had hypertension
o Confirmed positive for COVID-19 on March 15
Today, DOH reports 3 additional deaths. This brings the total number of deaths to 17.

o 58-year old Filipino male from Lanao del Sur o With travel history from Malaysia
o Admitted at Amai Pakpak Medical Center on March 10, 2020 o Expired on March 17, 2020, 6:41AM o Confirmed positive for COVID-19 on March 18, 2020 o Cause of Death: ARDS secondary to COVID-19 o With pre-existing Diabetes Mellitus
• PH57 - 16th PH death
o 65-year old Filipino male from Pasig City o With travel history from London o Admitted at The Medical City-Ortigas on March 10, 2020 o Expired on March 17, 2020, 10:10PM o Confirmed positive for COVID-19 on March 13, 2020 o Cause of Death: ARDS secondary to COVID-19, Pneumonia o With pre-existing Hypertension and Diabetes Mellitus
• PH160-17th PH death
o 86-year old Filipino female from San Juan City o With no travel history or exposure to a known COVID-19 case o Admitted at Cardinal Santos Medical Center o Expired on March 17, 2020, 2:25am o Confirmed positive for COVID-19 on March 16, 2020 o Cause of Death: Septic Shock secondary to Pneumonia-High Risk secondary to COVID-19
o With Chronic Kidney Disease secondary to Hypertensive nephrosclerosis, Ischemic heart disease, Peripheral arterial occlusive disease
Today, DOH also announces 3 new recoveries. This brings the total number of recoveries to 7.
• PH15 - 5th PH recovery
o 24-year old Filipino male from Makati City o With travel history to United Arab Emirates o Admitted March 7, 2020 at Makati Medical Center
o Tested negative twice for COVID-19, as confirmed by Makati Medical Center, and was discharged on March 15, 2020
• PH26 - 6th PH recovery
o 34-year old Filipino male from Camarines Sur
o One of the two repatriates from the Diamond Princess Cruise Ship who tested positive for COVID-19 o Confirmed with COVID-19 March 10, 2020
o Tested negative twice for COVID-19, as confirmed by Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital
• PH13 - 7th PH recovery
o 34-year old Filipino male from Quezon City o With travel history to Australia o Admitted on March 6, 2020 at Makati Medical Center o Confirmed positive for COVID-19 on March 9, 2020 o Tested negative once for COVID-19 as confirmed by Makati Medical Center, with 2nd test awaiting results, and was discharged on March 15, 2020
The Department of Health- Central Visayas in its official Facebook page, Wednesday, March 18, 2020, debunked circulating group chat messages about death claims that Covid-19 positive persons were being attended in funeral homes in Cebu City.
The DOH identified the messages as false and malicious.
"We remind the public not to share unverified information sources. Please be reminded that spreading of fake news is punishable by law," reads a portion of the post.
