Microsoft on January 14 will refuse to support the Windows 7 operating system, users have ten days to change the OS, as the "seven" will cease to be updated and will no longer correspond to the required level of security.
The press service of Microsoft recalled that Windows 7 was developed over a decade ago with a completely different level of cyber threats. The emergence of new technologies necessitated a revision of the OS, so when creating the tenth version of Windows, protection against cyber threats was an important condition, the press service said.
"It is on the completion and updating of Windows 10 that Microsoft will focus its forces," the company said.
They also noted that in the absence of support, the security of Windows 7 will be in question, its users are at risk of becoming easy prey for cybercriminals.
Microsoft advised users to update gadgets if they do not meet modern requirements, since installing a new OS on them is likely to reduce their performance.
In addition, as noted by the corporation, outdated gadgets do not support the basic security features of the tenth version of Windows, including face recognition and fingerprint recognition systems.
According to analytics firm Net Applications, in March 2019, Windows 7 was installed on 40 percent of desktop PCs around the world.
