Cebu, Philippines - The family of Clarin Misamis Occidental mayor David Navarro on Friday afternoon in M. Velez Brgy Guadalupe City of Cebu have been questioned as to who may have killed him.
This was revealed by Cebu City Police Office CCPO Director of Police Colonel Gemma Vinluan. He said that in Misamis Occidental, there were threats to the life of the victim.
Vinluan said this is why he has an additional security aide at his office in Clarin.
"There are groups that are supposed to be threatening themselves, they are receiving threats to certain groups, whom I just don't want to say," Vinluan said in a statement to Navarro's family.
On board the Mahindra patrol car were Navarro, Police Corporal Eutemio Catalan, Patrolman Javier, Police Master Sergeant Balasoto, Novie Grace Navarro brother of the mayor, Police Captain Bobby Matugas chief of Clarin police station, Alvin Roa brother-in-law and Princess Carmel Navarro Madarang younger mayor.
While aboard the next Hyundai Starex van his subjects came from Clarin. The crime scene captured 25 ammunition ammunition of .45 and 38 ammunition in the M16 Armalite rifle.
Special Investigation Task Group Navarro has been formed to probe the case and PRO7 Deputy Police Brigade General Valerino De Leon has appointed PRO7 Deputy Regional Director for Operation Police Colonel Geovanie Maines to lead the task force while Vinluan is the ground commander.
De Leon said they did not reject the possibility of political involvement and Navarro's involvement with Pres. Duterte killed him. Vinluan also confirmed that Navarro was eighth on Duterte's list.
Navarro attended an activity with local government units here in Cebu but later that night on Thursday he was accused by two masseurs of extortion and ransom.
It was supposed to be at the inquest proceedings Friday when their convoy was sealed.
Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella urged police to investigate the incident, as he said anyone else should be investigated.
