The new GLE SUV, related to the E-class, Mercedes-Benz was presented at the Paris Motor Show in October last year. the car has five major innovations.
Active suspension E-Active Body Control
This is the only system on the market where spring stiffness and damping force can be individually adjusted on each wheel. Thus, it counteracts not only rolls but also “pecking” and longitudinal roll of the body.
Active traffic jam assistance system
The system is a component of the complex of auxiliary systems and allows the GLE to recognize traffic jams in advance, providing the driver with active support when driving with frequent stops.
Rotation function of the active emergency braking system
If there is a risk of a collision with oncoming vehicles, the GLE may be slowed down to the speeds typical of such turns.
For the first time on vehicles with six- and eight-cylinder engines, as well as in a rechargeable hybrid, a fully variable four-wheel drive is available (TonD, Torque on Demand = torque on demand), where the torque the distribution between the front and rear axles is adjustable from 0 to 100% in accordance with the selected driving mode.
With a significantly larger wheelbase (an increase of 80 mm), the new GLE is, accordingly, more spacious. The second row of seats with fully electric adjustment, which is available on request, will provide particular comfort and the third row of seats is available as an option.
