A lot of controversy arose due to the construction of a police station in Barangay Inayawan in Cebu.
The construction was recommended by Mayor Edgardo Labella. But the Inayawan officials are against building on a donated site. Rey Gealon, a city legal officer claims that construction is legitimate and there is no reason to put it off. The City Legal Office revealed no problems with the donation case.
In 2017, the resolution was published stating that the donation was legal and all the rules of procedure were followed. It is known the Philippine National Police gave to the budget P5 million. This is another reason for barangay to allow the construction of the station.
The Local Government Code states that if the barangay refuses to give a permit for the construction of the station, then the city administration may do so. Gealon also noted only the police can ensure order in the city. Therefore, a good police station is indispensable now. But if it will be built, then there will be problems with transport. Captain Kirk Bryan Repollo proposes to build a police station 30 meters from the previously planned construction.
