Cebu Provincial Capitol is the main residence of local authorities of Cebu. Juan M. Arellano was a designer of the project of Capitol. It is situated in the Osmeña Boulevard in the city of Cebu.
The aim of the building was to replace the old Casa Provincial.
There is a phrase, written on the façade "The authority of the government emanates from the people”. The construction was started in 1937 and was ended in 1938.
During the Second World War the Capitol was partially destroyed, but then it was renovated.
Nowadays this building is one of the most popular places of interest. It has U shape and 3 floors.
The main building is built in a typical neoclassical style: the first floor with rusticated stone blocks is occupied by small halls and offices, the main work rooms are located on the second floor, and the attic floor is completed.
The second floor of the Capitol can be reached by going up the main staircase from the lobby. The spacious room of the dance hall is lit by two luxurious chandeliers of incredible sizes.
