Inayawan landfill rehab to proceed

Cebu City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Head Ma. Nida Cabrera said the conclusion and restoration of the landfill are in consistence with the Writ of Kalikasan the court has issued when City Councilor Joel Garganera sued the city government.

"Mao mani ang consistence na sa city. Kon dili unit mi motuman, naa sab mi endorse. Amo sang tumanon ang korte kay court request mana," Cabrera revealed to The FREEMAN.

The title of the 15.2-hectare landfill is under the name of Renato Senining, an occupant of the city. The zone is a piece of the 28-hectare property that Senining claims in Barangay Inayawan.

Prior, Mayor's Executive Assistant Francisco Fernandez said a few authorities have found that the city does not claim the property when a report demonstrating that the property will be exchanged to Golden Hectarage Corp., with endorsement title no. 107-2018000529, which was apparently purchased from Senining.

Starting at now, the city government, through Mayor Tomas Osmeña, documented an antagonistic case before the Cebu City's Registry of Deeds requesting the inversion of the title, as the city has utilized the property since "time immemorial."

The city will likewise make portrayals before the Office of the Solicitor General to return the title.

Cabrera, as far as concerns her, said the city is as yet sitting tight for the last report from the Full Advantage Philippines Inc., which is the contractual worker for the conclusion and recovery of the landfill.

"Pag November dad annoy begin ang clearing sa landfill as part sa restoration. Hangtod karon, sige dad ang clearing," she said.

Cabrera said the city has enough assets for the recovery of the landfill as requested by the court.

One week from now, she said the city will get the proposed conclusion and recovery plan for the landfill and will likewise be submitted to the City Council for enactment.

"With the possession issue, dili na namo magamit for WTE (squander to-vitality) sa landfill," she said.

Cabrera said the advocate of the WTE venture that was before imagined to be developed in the landfill territory will be exchanged to another area, that the task defender should give.

A foundation of an eco-park with sustainable power source might be the last conclusion and restoration measure for the landfill, since the WTE task will never again be developed there, she included.
