Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña is indeed asking lawmakers, particularly from the national government, to avoid setting up their canvases close to the Sinulog courses.
In a post distributed on his authority Facebook page today, Friday (January 18), Osmeña is asking for Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos to bring down a canvas demonstrating her picture and welcome for the Fiesta Señor introduced in an edge of Gen. Maxilom Avenue, Cebu City.
"Gov. Marcos, trust me when I reveal to you I am helping you out by bringing this canvas down. The Cebuanos don't value the politicization of the Sinulog. This won't acquire you any votes and is doing you more mischief than anything," Osmeña said on his post.
The city hall leader has prior asked lawmakers, particularly those looking for elective positions in May 2019 surveys, to forgo "politicizing Sinulog".
Marcos is trying to keep running as Senator this May 2019.
"The Sinulog is a religious occasion. It's anything but a reason to get alcoholic in the lanes, nor is it a scene to battle. National competitors like any other person are free to participate in the festival, yet they won't talk nor will they show off in front of an audience," said Osmeña.
In a prior meeting, Councilor Dave Tumulak, generally speaking director of the official advisory group of the Sinulog Foundation Inc., said something like four Senatoriables communicated aims to join the current year's celebrations.
